Ways to Give
Please give to our students and families at Red Cloud Indian School on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. Located in one of the poorest areas of the Western Hemisphere, well over 90 percent of our operating budget each and every year must be raised through the generosity of people like you.
Your gift ensures that our students receive the education they deserve, empowering them to move on to some of our nation’s most prestigious colleges and universities (Princeton, Stanford, Dartmouth, Columbia, Creighton and Marquette to name just a few) and propel themselves toward the brightest of futures.
The gift of a future
What’s the impact of your gift? You can see it in the faces of our community of Lakota men and women who have walked through our doors and are out in the world contributing to a better tomorrow, for all of us. Here are a few examples:
- Tiarra Little ’12 has traveled overseas three times—to Cambodia, Nicaragua, and Palestine and Israel—as part of cross-cultural programs to promote peace and sustainability among Indigenous people. “I see different opportunities come to me and I just go for it,” she says. “I can’t pass up the opportunities if they’re right there in front of my face.”
- Delphine Red Shirt ’75 is finishing her doctoral degree in American Indian studies from the University of Arizona while teaching writing and rhetoric at Stanford University in California. When she completes her doctorate, she will join the ranks of six other Red Cloud graduates who have earned PhDs.
- Deb Iron Cloud ’86 and Joyce Tibbitts, parish coordinators on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, organize a grief and healing retreat and a codependency retreat. They are the cogs in the wheel of parish ministry at Red Cloud.
- Three students from the class of 2015 were awarded the Bill and Melinda Gates Millennium Scholarship bringing the total to 67 students from Red Cloud to have earned the Scholarship since its inception in 1999. Graduating around 50 seniors each year, Red Cloud leads the country in Gates Millennium Scholars for a school of our size. Today they are studying at Stanford University, South Dakota State University, the University of Arizona, the University of Oklahoma and more.
Please consider a gift right now by giving online. Every dollar ensures that more stories of success will be written through the actions of our students, parents, teachers, parishioners and families. Lila wopila tanka—many, many thanks—for your support.
