Pennies for Patients drive success leads to head shaving
posted on March 30, 2012
The high school’s Pennies for Patients fundraiser, benefiting the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (see Feb. 29 article here for background) wrapped up recently with some impressive totals. Overall, nearly $500.00 was raised by the various high school classes. Because the seniors raised the most money ($184.23), social justice teacher Brad Held had to make good on his promise to let members of the senior class shave his head.
Due to the beautiful (and unseasonable) weather, the head shaving was held outside the front doors of the high school, instead of in the student commons. Senior Tayler Morgan took the symbolic first lock of hair, and then handed the clippers over to Mason Little Hawk, who finished the job. Held said he did not mind the loss of his locks, as it was for a good cause. Thanks to all students and staff who donated, and helped make the campaign such a success!
