Red Cloud Middle School has had an after-school group for technology exploration and creativity – the Media Fair Club – for over twelve years now. In this club, students use Adobe Photoshop, iMovie, Power Point and Hyperstudio to edit digital photos, make original computer-generated art, work on commercial authoring projects, and create digital movies.
Every year it has been in existence, the club has entered a sizable number of projects in the annual TIE (Teaching & Innovation in Education) Technology Contest for students grades 3-12. Each year Red Cloud has had multiple winning entries.
This year, the Media Fair Club members created over 20 projects and entered 18 in the contest. Project that received awards included:
6-8 Computer-Generated Art: 1st Place – “Crows Nest” – Cole James Beane, 6th grade
6-8 Computer-Generated Art: Honorable Mention – “My Favorite Tennie” – Alexis Ghost Bear, 7th grade
