Our Lady of Lourdes Kindergarten class graduates
posted on May 17, 2012
OLL graduated 16 students this morning – the future high school seniors of 2024.
But no need to look that far into the future; today was all about the kids, and celebrating their finishing up their first year of real school together.
The graduation had a creative theme, that of pirates (boys) and Hawaiian dancers (girls). The Kindergarteners dressed up accordingly, so there were eye patches and leis aplenty!
The celebration began with a prayer song by the Anpo Teca (New Dawn) student drum group. This was followed by a welcome by OLL principal Theresa Lessert and an opening prayer by superintendent Robert Brave Heart, Sr.
The students then sang songs in keeping with their chosen theme: the Hukilau Song and the Pirate Song. They were then joined by Sister Susan to sing a couple of religious songs they had learned in her class.
After the presentation of a slide show consisting of photos taken by OLL teacher Ron Kills Warrior ’96, Kindergarten teacher Robin Sager handed out individual awards; some serious (e.g. “best in math”) and some whimsical (e.g. “biggest wiggle worm”).
After the students received their Kindergarten certificates, and Fr. Peter Klink said a closing prayer, Anpo Teca sang an honoring song, and family members and friends filed to the front to give the students handshakes and hugs for a job well done.
